Winter View of Almaty

Lana, Kazakhstan

Lana is a dear friend which became my postcard pal during the years of exchanging postcards. We exchanged postcards several times and shared stories, which always helps you to get to know closely the person and feel like is your real friend. I have few of them and i am happy to have them.
Lana lives in Almaty and she sent me this postcard of a snowy mountains behind the tall buildings. Coincidence or not i took this photo on a winter time right when we have snow too 😂

Additional info – Almaty is the largest metropolis, and is set in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains. It served as the country’s capital until 1997 and remains Kazakhstan’s trading and cultural hub.
The name Almaty derived from the Kazakh word for ‘apple’ (алма), and is often translated as “full of apples”. Originally it was Almatau which means Apple Mountain. Almaty is full of parks and green scenery, surrounded with mountains. All breathtaking. The top of Kok Tobe mountain is connected to downtown Almaty by a cable car line and is one of the “must” do things in the city.
Since 1972, people in Almaty can enjoy the public skating rank Medeo. It is located at 1,691 meters above sea level and it is one of the largest high-altitude ice ranks in the world.
Searching on internet i am amazed how beautiful, modern and cultural is this city. I hope you will agree with me.
